How do I search SoundScalpel.com for sounds?
To search our website for sounds, click on the 'Search' link on the navigation bar towards the top of any page. This will open a search engine with access to every sound in our database. Type in a description or keyword that is associated with the sound you are searching for into the search box. Search results are displayed in order of relevance. If the description of a sound is too long to completely fit into the search result, hold your mouse pointer over the [+] icon. This will open a full pop-up description.
Can I listen to sounds before I buy them?
Yes, every sound in our database can be previewed from within the search results area. Each audio preview is representative of the sound files length but is a low quality mp3 version of the original wav file that will be downloaded after purchase.
Why are the preview files low quality?
They are low quality mp3 files for copyright protection purposes. The files you download are delivered as 44.1 KHz, 16 bit wav files. We are more than happy to provide you with higher quality preview files of any sound on request. If this is the case, please contact us.
How much do the sounds cost?
Sound effects and music samples can be purchased for as little as 99p (approx $2.00) up to £5.99 (approx $12.00).
Is registering with SoundScalpel.com free?
Yes, it's completely free to register and you can take advantage of our great promotions and free utilities (subject to terms and conditions). Registering automatically opens your personal account from where you can access our great promotions, free utilities and gain access to your purchases. If I register with Soundscalpel.com, do I have to provide any credit/debit card details?
No, credit/debit card details are only required when you purchase a sound.

Can my SoundScalpel.com account be deleted?
Yes, you can delete your SoundScalpel.com account at anytime simply by contacting us. If your account is deleted you will no longer be able to download any previously purchased sounds or take advantage of any offers for SoundScalpel.com members. If you wish us to delete your account it will take up to 48 hours from the time we receive your request and you will be notified by email once this has taken place. All records of any personal information including email adresses and subscription to any email alerts will also be deleted.
By purchasing a product from SoundScalpel.com, am I entering into any agreements or contracts?
Yes, by purchasing a product from us you are entering into an End User Licence Agreement. You are also entering into the same agreement by downloading the 'Free Sounds of the Week'. However, you will be prompted to read and agree to these terms whilst registering with us. It is important that you understand this agreement before going ahead with any transaction. How do I pay for sounds?
- Firstly, you need to add the sound(s) you intend to purchase to your shopping cart. To do this simply click on the blue 'Add to Cart' button which is displayed for each sound within the search results.
- Once you are ready to purchase your selection click on the 'View Cart' link within the main navigation bar (towards the top of any page) or on the red 'In Cart' button displayed for any selected sounds within the search results.
- Inside your shopping cart, you can remove any sounds if you no longer wish to purchase them.
- Click on the 'Buy Now' button at the bottom of the cart screen to enter PayPal's secure environment. You DO NOT need a PayPal account to purchase from us. Simply enter your personal details, card details and billing information when prompted.
- Once your transaction is complete you will be automatically taken to your account login page. The sounds you have purchased can be instantly downloaded to your computer from within your account area. Simply click on the links to each sound which are listed down the right hand side of your account page. You are able to download your purchases from your account area for up to one (1) year after purchase. After this time the links will expire. It is recommended that you keep the sounds in a secure and safe place once you have downloaded them.
What is the 'Discount Code' feature and how can I get one?
Our 'Discount Code' feature gives up to 20% discount on our products when available. We offer discounts periodically via our Newsletter (you must subscribe to this feature from your SoundScalpel.com account 'Edit Account Details' area if you have not done so upon registration to receive such emails) and also via selected distributors such as external websites and publications/magazines.
The best way to obtain our 'Discount Codes' is via our Newsletters, however we will publicise when and where our 'Discount Codes' are also available elsewhere here. 'Discount Codes' must be entered into the 'Discount Code' box when on the checkout page for your sounds.
When entering a 'Discount Code' I get a message saying 'Code Invalid'. Why does this happen?
Our 'Discount Codes' are valid by expiry date or by usage. If the code you enter is showing as invalid, it has expired either by date or by usage.
I have paid by eCheque (eCheck) but my sounds are not in my account. Why?
Because eCheque payments take a few days to process, we will not release sounds into user accounts until the payments have cleared. We release sounds automatically as soon as an eCheque clears and it will then be available to download from you SoundScalpel.com account. If you have paid by eCheque and require your sounds immediately, please contact us.

Can you send me sounds on CD?
Yes, if you prefer to receive your purchased sounds on CD we are happy to arrange this. We require you to contact us before making a purchase as a postage charge will apply. We can ship worldwide and the postage charge will vary depending upon your location and urgency.
What is SoundScalpel's refund policy?
Our Money Back Guarantee covers any sound purchased from SoundScalpel.com. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, we will refund you straight away, no questions asked. Do I need any plug-ins to use SoundScalpel.com?
Yes, you will need to have Adobe Flash installed on your computer to preview the sounds in our database.

What type of projects can SoundScalpel.com sound effects and samples be used in?
Once you have purchased a licence to use any of the sound effects or samples from SoundScalpel.com, you may use them in any audio/visual multimedia or musical project that is commercial, non-commercial, broadcast or non-broadcast. The sounds may not be used as source playback from any device utilising Flash Memory or Read Only Memory, nor may the sounds be embedded in any hardware circuit or chip set without prior written permission from SoundScalpel. Please contact us before making a payment for a sound from this website if this is your intention.
